May 2026 - The Colour Green
The colour GREEN has the leading role in your photograph. Your photo may contain touches of other colours but it should be predominantly green. Your photo can have several subjects or one main subject.

April 2026 - Forms In Nature
Capture the shapes, patterns, textures, and lines inherent in the natural world. Emphasize shapes
and patterns Look for repeating patterns, natural shapes like lines, triangles, and circles, and display
them in a compelling composition. (The image may include man made elements but the dominant part
of the image must be natural)

March 2026 - Movement
Freeze motion and capture a sharp moment in time, or create motion blur showing movement. Other methods include panning, where the camera moves with a subject to keep it sharp while blurring the background, and intentional camera movement (ICM), where the camera is moved during a long exposure to create abstract, streaky effects. (the sense of movement must be evident).


2025 - Image of the Year
Submission of any image that has been previously submitted during the year. This competition does not add to aggregate points, but the winner is presented with a framed certificate.

November 2025 - Flowers
Flowers (not Flora in general) - Make the flower/s the hero. From wide-angle sweeping
wildflower landscapes to close-up floral garden portraits and impressionist, abstract,
macro, arrangement, still life or studio photos. The flower/s must be the predominant
feature.

October 2025 - Backlit
Position the main light source behind the primary subject. Be creative.

September 2025 - Urban Decay
Document an urban space. Capturing the physical and emotional decay of urban areas. It can include but not be limited to photos of abandoned or neglected buildings, infrastructure, and public spaces that have fallen into disrepair.

2025 - Coburg / Preston Interclub
An annual Interclub competition with Preston Photographic Club. This year's competition was hosted by Preston Photographic Club.

August 2025 - High Key
Produce an image that contains very little in the way of shadows or dark tones. A high key photo contains mostly very white or light-toned colors. It is bright, and it may possibly contain purposefully overexposed areas in the frame.


June 2025 - Portrait
Capture the identity, personality, and essence of a subject with composition, lighting, and posing.

May 2025 - Inside Merri Bek
Produce an image within the boundaries of the Merri-bek council area that captures the essence of Merri-bek.

April 2025 - Black & White (Print Only)
Print only - Actual Black and White, not a monochrome image of another colour.

March 2025 - Minimalism
Your image should highlight simplicity. Emphasising sparseness and careful composition, avoiding an overabundance of colour, patterns, or information.
